Film Submission Guidelines: SJFF 2009

HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR FILM...

WE ARE CURRENTLY ACCEPTING SUBMISSIONS FOR SJFF 2009

The Seattle Jewish Film Festival is a week-long, competitive, non-profit festival. We are the fifth-largest Jewish film festival in the US, screening about 30 feature, documentary and short films for our 6 to 8,000 patrons. "Audience Choice Award" winners for Best Feature and Documentary films are announced closing night. Winners are notified by email, are announced on our website homepage and receive a congratulatory certificate. In Spring 2009, we celebrate or 14th season.

General Info:
Our committee screens films from May through December 1, 2008 on a first-come, first-serve basis. There is no formal application; however, in addition to your DVD screener submission and press kit, you must include a $25 USD submission fee made out to "Seattle Jewish Film Festival." We hope to formalize this process using an online submission agent such as Without a Box soon.

Submissions are previewed on a first-come-first-serve basis in order of receipt. Anything received after our cut-off date of December 1, 2008, will be considered for our 2010 festival.

What to submit?
Please mail your $25 submission fee, press kit and DVD preview screener to the festival director. Formats: preferably NTSC w/ English subtitles, if appropriate. PAL OK but less desirable. VHS is acceptable but DVD preferred. It is recommended you include a press kit, press reviews, background materials (in English only), a CD with stills and/or website links/passwords for downloading materials. You may include other promotional items, such as postcards or posters or production photos, but these are not required until selections are made.

Final screening formats for the festival are (in order of preference): 35mm, DigiBeta and BetaSP - preferably NTSC, but PAL OK. HDCam possible but expensive. We do not screen on DVD.

Thank you for your interest in submitting your film to the Seattle Jewish Film Festival. We look forward to previewing your submission, and will do our best to notify you by March 1, 2009.

Best of luck!
