As part of our Israel@60 celebrations, please join us for an acoustic performance by Tel Aviv/New York-based indie folk rock musician Geva Alon. Geva performs after the early screening of the 2008 Oscar-nominated Israeli film Beaufort.
Make it an evening, and join us for both the film and concert!
About Geva Alon: Emerging from the quiet countryside of Israel, Geva Alon is a founding member of the Israeli rock trio The Flying Baby. Their albums, "Inner World" (2003) and "Pain to Give" (2005) on Blue Sun Music ushered in a faithful gig-packing fan base. In contrast to their hard-rocking sound, Geva has been playing hundreds of solo acoustic performances in cities from Tel Aviv to New York and San Francisco, showcasing his more intimate, melodic and personal songs. His solo albums, "Days of Hunger" (2006) and "The Wall of Sound" (2007) of dominate original material, all in English, amalgamate blues, folk, rock and even country styles. Critics say he is the best guitarist currently in Israel as he "Manages to sound like an entire band with a guitar, harmonica and tambourine". Even his cover of the David Bowie pop tune Modern Love is nothing short of haunting and brilliant. You can hear full tracks on the Geva Alon MySpace page
We welcome Geva to Seattle for a not-to-be missed SJFF musical first!
