SJFF celebrates ISRAEL@60 featuring a slide-show presentation of historic images of Israel by legendary Magnum Photographer, Burt Glinn. The presentation will be conducted by Elena Prohaska Glinn, an independent curator and professional art appraiser as well as the wife of the photographer. Magnum Photos is the world"s most prestigious photographic agency founded in 1947 by Robert Capa, Henri Cartier-Bresson, George Rodger and David "Chim" Seymour.
About Burt Glinn: Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Burt Glinn became an associate member of Magnum in 1951 and a full member in 1954. He covered the Sinai War, US Marine invasion of Lebanon and Fidel Castro"s takeover of Cuba. In the 1990s he completed an extensive photo essay of medical science around the world and the Pacific Northwest. His reportages have appeared in Esquire, Fortune, Life and Paris-Match. Versatile and technically brilliant, Glinn is one of Magnum"s great corporate and advertising photographers. He has received numerous awards for his editorial and commercial work. Glinn served as president of the American Society of Media Photographers. He was president of Magnum between 1972 and 1975, and was re-elected to the post in 1987. Glinn lived and worked in Seattle in the 1950s and 1960s. he currently lives in East Hampton, NY.
